The short version
There's no account, no cloud service, and nothing tracking you. The app and the panel talk to each other over your home network, and the panel talks to ESPN for scores and to GitHub for firmware updates. That's the whole picture.
What the panel does
The panel asks ESPN's public site for your team's schedule and scores, and downloads team logos from ESPN's image servers. It checks this site for firmware updates every six hours. None of that carries any information about you, only the team you picked and a request for the current schedule.
The panel's own web page, opened in your browser, asks ESPN for today's games and team logos and GitHub for release notes, so those sites see your browser's address the way any website does. Nothing about you goes with it.
What the app does
The app finds and talks to panels on your home Wi-Fi network only, using Bonjour to discover them and HTTP to read scores and send settings. First-time Wi-Fi setup happens over Bluetooth, directly between your phone and the panel. Your Wi-Fi password goes from the phone straight to the panel and is stored only on the panel. The app also fetches team logos from ESPN's image servers so you can see them while picking a team. The app has no server of its own, no account or sign-in, and does not collect analytics or usage data.
Buying a scoreboard
Orders and support email are handled by our store at gameday-scoreboard.com, which has its own privacy policy. This page covers the app and the panel.
What we don't do
No accounts. No analytics or crash reporting. No advertising. The app and the panel collect nothing, so there's nothing to sell or share.
Like any website, ESPN and GitHub (which hosts this site and the firmware updates) see the IP address a request comes from. We don't receive or keep any of that.
